Countries In The Greater Mekong Subregion Accelerated The Facilitation Of Transport And Trade

From May 24 To 25, The Special Meeting And Senior Officials' Meeting Of The Joint Committee Of The Greater Mekong Subregion (gms) National Transport Facilitation Committee Was Held In Hanoi, Vietnam. Liu Xiaoming, Deputy Minister Of Transport, Led The Chinese Delegation To Attend. At The Meeting, Liu Xiaoming And Akong, Minister Of Transport Of Thailand, Respectively Took The Lead In Signing The Memorandum Of Understanding On The Implementation Of The "early Harvest" Of The Agreement On Facilitating Cross Border Transport Of Goods And People In The Greater Mekong Subregion (hereinafter Referred To As The "early Harvest" Memorandum) On Behalf Of Their Respective Governments.




Liu Xiaoming Pointed Out At The Meeting That Promoting Transport And Trade Facilitation Is One Of The Main Objectives Of Economic Cooperation In The Greater Mekong Subregion And Also An Important Content Of The Chinese Government's "the Belt And Road" Initiative. He Urged Other Countries That Failed To Sign The "early Harvest" Memorandum At This Meeting To Complete Relevant Domestic Procedures As Soon As Possible, Sign It At An Early Date And Promote Its Implementation. He Stressed That The Vigorous Development Of International Cooperation Under The "the Belt And Road" Initiative Has Provided New Opportunities For The Further Economic And Social Development Of Gms. He Hoped That All Countries Would Seize The Precious Opportunities To Promote The Implementation Of Specific Measures For Cross-border Transport Facilitation, Promote The Realization Of The Development Goals Of Gms Transport Facilitation And Economic Cooperation, And Bring Tangible Benefits To The People Of All Countries.




A Kong Highly Agrees With Liu Xiaoming's Suggestion That The Signing And Implementation Of The Memorandum Of "early Harvest" Should Be Accelerated, Believing That This Will Promote Cross-border Transport Facilitation And Enhance The Attraction Of The Region To Private Investors. He Called On Gms Countries To Speed Up The Reform Of Relevant Laws, Regulations And Management Systems To Make The Movement Of Goods And People More Free.




During The Meeting, The Participating Countries Reached A New Time Road Map And Work Plan On Accelerating The Signing And Launching Of The Memorandum Of "early Harvest", And Focused On The Revision Of The Agreement On Facilitating Cross-border Transport Of Goods And People In The Greater Mekong Subregion, And Conducted In-depth Discussions On The Opening Of New Gms Cross-border Road Transport Lines And Entry-exit Stations. Liu Xiaoming Also Exchanged Views With Leaders Of The Transportation Departments Of Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar And Other Countries On Strengthening Bilateral International Road Transport Cooperation And Other Issues Of Common Concern.
